Rivera's room

All about Rivera

This is my space. Come in slowly — I'm not selling anything here, just opening the door to where it all begins.

What runs through my mind when I paint

When I pick up the brush, the outside world goes quiet. It's just me, the color, and something I carry inside that I still can't name.

I don't plan every stroke. I paint the way I breathe: I let my hand say what my mouth can't. Sometimes I finish a piece and only then understand what I was feeling.

Each layer is a decision, a doubt, a risk. Art, to me, is daring to show on the outside what almost everyone keeps in.

My purpose

I want someone, anywhere in the world, to stand in front of my work and feel they're not alone in what they feel. If I manage that, I've already won. And I dream of living from this — and of opening that same door for other artists who, like me, have a lot to say and few tools to say it.

The process behind every piece

Making a piece isn't just painting. It's all of this:

01

Feel

It all starts with an emotion too big to keep inside — a loss, a tenderness, an anger, a hope.

02

Let it rest

I carry it for days, sometimes weeks. I watch it. I wait for it to ask me for the color and shape it wants to come out in.

03

Paint

I lock myself in with music and get lost. No rules here: graphite, acrylic, oil, gold — whatever the piece needs.

04

Let go

I sign it JR. Releasing a piece is letting go of part of myself so it can live on someone else's wall.

My journey

The beginning

The first pencil, the first scribble that felt different. Tell here how it all began for you.

The first canvases

When painting stopped being a hobby and became a need. Your first serious works.

Finding my voice

The moment your style became yours — the mixed media, the icons, the roots.

Today
